Remarks Bathypelagic (Ref. 58426). Adults at greater depths than juveniles. Young feed mainly on crustaceans. Adults feed on fish (Ref.4737). Contact chemoreception may be the primary system for sensing and locating prey organisms in which the fangtooth presumably scull slowly until it bumps into a potential prey (Ref. 40644).
