 Family:  Gobiidae (Gobies), subfamily: Oxudercinae
 Max. size:  9 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  demersal; depth range - 0 m, amphidromous
 Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: east coast of India to the Philippines, north to Japan, south to Australia (Ref. 5218). Record from Sulaibikhat Bay, Persian Gulf (Ref. 80050) needs verification.
 Diagnosis:  Distinguished by the following characteristics: five, brown, roundish blotches along the lateral midline; predorsal scales 19-27 (Ref. 5218).
 Biology:  Found in fresh and brackish waters (Ref. 4833). Browses on diatoms; not active at low tide, staying in burrows made by Alpheus bisincisus and others.
 IUCN Red List Status: Not Evaluated  (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
