 Family:  Gobiidae (Gobies), subfamily: Gobionellinae
 Max. size:  19.3 cm SL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  demersal, amphidromous
 Distribution:  Africa: Bioko, Sao Tomé, Principe and Pagalu [=Annobon] islands (Ref. 81676).
 Diagnosis:  Diagnosis: posterior tip of upper jaw usually not extending beyond vertical through mideye; fewer than 50 teeth in single row in upper jaw on each side, separated by median tubercle; upper lip smooth; usually 3 pores in preopercular canal; flanks with chess-board arrangement of small, light and dark patches (Ref. 57403).
 Biology:  Amphidromous freshwater species (Ref. 92840). The maximum size is 193 mm SL and 242 mm TL observed, but perhaps it can reach 264 mm TL (Ref. 81676).
 IUCN Red List Status: Vulnerable (D2) (Ref. 96402)
