 Family:  Banjosidae (Banjofishes)
 Max. size:  20 cm SL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  demersal; depth range 50 - 400 m
 Distribution:  Western Pacific: southern Japan to the East China Sea. Reported from Indonesia (Ref. 5978) and the Chesterfield Island (Ref. 11897).
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 10-10; Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-11; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 7-7. Body high and well-compressed. Third dorsal spine and 2nd anal spine specially long and strong. Body uniformly grayish brown and soft dorsal fin with 1 black blotch. Vertical fins margined white. Attains 20 cm SL.
 Biology:  Occurs inshore (Ref. 7300, 11230).
