 Family:  Stomiidae (Barbeled dragonfishes), subfamily: Melanostomiinae
 Max. size:  12.2 cm SL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  bathypelagic
 Distribution:  Eastern Atlantic: off Gibraltar, Western Sahara south to Gabon including western Mediterranean; and off South Africa. Western Atlantic: between 20°N and 27°N, and from Brazil to Argentina. Indian and Pacific oceans.
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 14-15; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 12-15
 Biology:  Mesopelagic species (Ref. 559).
 IUCN Red List Status:   (Ref. 96402)
