 Family:  Arhynchobatidae (Skates)
 Max. size:  49 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  bathydemersal; depth range 94 - 585 m
 Distribution:  Southeast Pacific and Southwest Atlantic: Uruguay (Ref. 58839) to Patagonian coast of South America including the Falkland Islands. Southern Ocean: Scotia Arc to South Shetland Islands and the Antarctic Peninsula.
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  Oviparous (Ref. 50449). Eggs have horn-like projections on the shell (Ref. 205).
 IUCN Red List Status: Endangered (A2bd+4bd) (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
