 Family:  Malacanthidae (Tilefishes), subfamily: Latilinae
 Max. size:  60 cm TL (male/unsexed); max.weight: 1,500.0 g
 Environment:  demersal; depth range 50 - 300 m
 Distribution:  Eastern Atlantic: Casablanca, Morocco to Baia dos Tigres, Angola. Rare north of Dakar, Senegal.
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  Epibenthic. Has a marked seasonal availability. Most abundant from June to October at 50-100 m depth (Ref. 7358).
 IUCN Red List Status:   (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
