 Environment:  reef-associated; depth range 0 - 20 m
 Distribution:  Eastern Central Atlantic: known from oceanic islands.
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-10; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 9-9. Absence of dark stripe extending anteriorly from the ventral caudal fin margin onto the caudal peduncle or flank; presence of a horizontal dark stripe extending from the dorsal caudal fin margin anteriorly to the pectoral fin base; absence of a conspicuous (larger than eye) spot slightly ahead and below dorsal fin base; absence of bars on the caudal fin (Ref. 43205).
