 Family:  Bythitidae (Viviparous brotulas), subfamily: Bythitinae
 Max. size:  18 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  bathypelagic; depth range - 265 m
 Distribution:  Southwest Pacific: Heracles Bank, the South-Pacific Rise.
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 129-129; Anal soft rays: 93-93. Distinguished by having a granule-like teeth on jaws; dorsal rays 129; anal rays 93; pectoral rays 30; lateral basibranchial tooth-plates 2 in the insertion of the third pair of gill arches; snout of moderate length (about 4 times HL); large eye (15.9% HL); body dark colored (Ref. 58053).
