 Environment:  demersal; depth range - 2 m
 Distribution:  Asia and Oceania: Philippines south to New Caledonia.
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 5-5; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-8; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 9-9
 Biology:  Inhabit rapid-flowing streams in hilly or mountainous terrain (Ref. 2847). Adults may ascend rivers, reported to 350 m above sea level. Oviparous, eggs are pelagic and non-adhesive (Ref. 205).
 IUCN Red List Status: Data deficient  (Ref. 96402)
