 Family:  Tetraodontidae (Puffers), subfamily: Tetraodontinae
 Max. size:  20 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  demersal
 Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: 6°S to Xora River mouth, South Africa. Western Central Pacific: Papua New Guinea.
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-10; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 8-9. Large bluish spots and 4 vague darker vertical bars (1st across eye, 4th on caudal peduncle).
 Biology:  Found in weedy areas of quiet waters (Ref. 4919).
 IUCN Red List Status:   (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
