 Family:  Macrouridae (Grenadiers or rattails), subfamily: Macrourinae
 Max. size:  20 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  benthopelagic; depth range 124 - 424 m, non-migratory
 Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: Philippines and Indonesia. Reported from Australia (Ref. 7300).
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Anal spines: 0-0. Snout moderately long. Overall coloration gray-brown; a large black blotch, its upper edge touching the lateral line below the first dorsal fin base.
 Biology:  Feeds on copepods, polychaetes, small fish (including juveniles of Bregmaceros), and other bottom invertebrates.
 IUCN Red List Status: Not Evaluated  (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
