Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-13; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 10-14; Vertebrae: 56-59. Body elongate, compressed laterally but robust. Head heavy, broad and short; eye moderate; snout broad, somewhat rounded; lower jaw heavy, usually projecting beyond the upper jaw, maxillary usually not pigmented, extending posteriorly to beyond the anterior margin of the eye. Overall coloration silvery with pink or purple iridescence, green or blue on back, silvery on sides and white below. Pigmentation on jaws and fins very light. |
