 Family:  Malacanthidae (Tilefishes), subfamily: Malacanthinae
 Max. size:  11 cm SL (female)
 Environment:  reef-associated; depth range 40 - 90 m
 Distribution:  Western Pacific: Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 10-10; Dorsal soft rays (total): 13-13; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 12-12. Description: Characterized by overall greenish to grey body color; upper half of body is darker; black upper caudal fin lobe with white edge; white edged lower grey caudal lobe; preopercular serrae 15-21; greatest depth of body 3.7-4.0 in SL (Ref. 90102).
 Biology:  Pairs hovering within a meter above the bottom were observed. Sometimes solitary (Ref 90102).
 IUCN Red List Status: Not Evaluated  (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
