Dorsal spines (total): 10-10; Dorsal soft rays (total): 16-18; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 8-8. Deep red to brown or yellowish grey above, white below, with four darker red to black vertical bands over posterior half of body and fifth short band from each opercle to dorsal fin origin; black blotch just below lateral line in band under middle dorsal fin spines; upper parts of head and body densely speckled with irregular dark spots; free margin of opercles yellow; fin rays spotted (Ref. 33839). |
Inhabits shallow coastal reefs to depths greater than 30 m (Ref. 33839). Solitary and feeds on small fishes (Ref. 33839). |
