 Family:  Cyprinidae (Minnows or carps), subfamily: Labeoninae
 Max. size:  150 cm TL (male/unsexed); max.weight: 1,360.0 g
 Environment:  benthopelagic, potamodromous
 Distribution:  Asia: Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Myanmar (Ref. 4832). Recorded from Afghanistan (Ref. 41034) and Nepal (Ref. 9496).
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  Adults inhabit rivers. They spawn during the southwest monsoon. Do not normally breed in ponds. Artificial breeding done through hypophysation. Cultured in ponds along with other carp species.
