 Family:  Bothidae (Lefteye flounders)
 Max. size:  21 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  demersal; depth range 100 - 290 m
 Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: Delagoa Bay, Mozambique and Natal, South Africa. Northwest Pacific: Japan. Probably occurring in the Western Central Pacific (Ref. 9824).
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 100-100; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 82-83. Mouth small and asymmetrical, dentition developed only on blind side of jaws. First 2 rays of dorsal fin not detached from others, 1st, 3 rays a little prolonged. Body scattered with many small spots.
 Biology:  Feeds on benthic animals (Ref. 9824).
