 Max. size:  53 cm SL (male/unsexed); 60 cm SL (female); max.weight: 2,860.0 g; max.weight: 4,640.0 g
 Environment:  demersal
 Distribution:  South America: Amazon, Tocantins and Essequibo River basins.
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  Occurs in small groups and occasionally forms schools. Inhabits rivers. Is mainly diurnal. Feeds on the fruits of Licania longipetala and Astrocaryum jauary. Also feeds on pulmonate snails (Ref. 9086).
