 Family:  Stomiidae (Barbeled dragonfishes), subfamily: Melanostomiinae
 Max. size:  20.1 cm SL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  pelagic-oceanic; depth range - 1000 m
 Distribution:  South Atlantic: known only from two locations, 18°S,14°W and 27°S,3°E. Also known in the tropical waters of the Indo-West Pacific.
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 13-16; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 16-18
 Biology:  Mesopelagic species (Ref. 75154).
 IUCN Red List Status:   (Ref. 96402)
