 Family:  Sparidae (Porgies)
 Max. size:  37 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  demersal; depth range - 150 m
 Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: Persian Gulf to the Gulf of the Aden and northern coasts of Somalia (Ref. 3507). Reported along the western coast of India, and now in Pakistan (Ref. 94044).
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  Found over various grounds (Ref. 30573). Omnivorous with preference for carnivorous diet (Ref. 30573).
 IUCN Red List Status:   (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
