 Family:  Stomiidae (Barbeled dragonfishes), subfamily: Melanostomiinae
 Max. size:  30 cm SL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  bathypelagic; depth range 120 - 800 m
 Distribution:  Western Pacific: in subtropical to temperate waters. Point data suggest it to occur from South Africa to Japan, Australia, Hawaii, and French Polynesia (RF). South China Sea, East China Sea, and water near to Taiwan (Ref.74511).
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  Mesopelagic (Ref. 559, 75154).
 IUCN Red List Status: Not Evaluated  (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
