 Family:  Serranidae (Sea basses: groupers and fairy basslets), subfamily: Anthiinae
 Max. size:  8.9 cm SL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  bathydemersal; depth range 190 - 290 m
 Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: Gulf of Aden, Socotra.
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 17-17. Head almost completely scaled. Preopercle: ventral margin with 2 antrorse spines; posterior margin coarsely serrated (ca 26 serrae). Ten oblique rows of cheek scales, between eye and preopercle corner.
 Biology:
