 Distribution:  Western Atlantic: southern Florida to Santos, Brazil. Not occurring in the Gulf of Mexico and western Caribbean Sea.
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 9-9; Dorsal soft rays (total): 12-12; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 13-13
 Biology:  Occurs along sandy or muddy shores (Ref. 7251). Not of great commercial importance (Ref. 26938).
