 Family:  Cyprinidae (Minnows or carps), subfamily: Leuciscinae
 Max. size:  10 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  benthopelagic
 Distribution:  Eurasia: Orontes River, the Litani and the central and northern part of the Jordan River drainage.
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  In slow-moving or still water amidst stones and vegetation. Feeds on algae and aquatic invertebrates. Spawns between February and April (Ref. 13609).
 IUCN Red List Status: Not Evaluated  (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
