 Family:  Mullidae (Goatfishes)
 Max. size:  55 cm SL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  demersal; depth range 10 - 300 m
 Distribution:  Eastern Atlantic: Agadir, Morocco to Angola (Ref. 7313). Reported from Palamós, Catalan Sea, northwestern Mediterranean (Ref. 45077).
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 8-8; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-9; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 7-7
 Biology:  Inhabits the coastal waters of the continental shelf, over sandy and muddy bottoms (Ref. 2683). Feeds on benthic invertebrates (Ref. 4845).
 IUCN Red List Status: Vulnerable (A2ad) (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
