 Family:  Sparidae (Porgies)
 Max. size:  45 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  benthopelagic; depth range 20 - 150 m
 Distribution:  Southeast Atlantic: Namibia (Ref. 27121) and South Africa to Beira, Mozambique (Ref. 3198).
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 12-12; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-10; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 8-8. Lips furry.
 Biology:  Found in coastal waters, over soft bottoms (Ref. 27121). Forms large schools (Ref. 5213). Sold fresh.
