Description: Characterized by having blotchy red to reddish brown color; caudal peduncle with white bar; basal portion of caudal fin with red bar; pectoral fin base with blackish arc; posterior part of spinous dorsal fin with black blotch; three spines on suborbital ridge; absence of interorbital or coronal spines; depth of body 2.6-3.0 in SL (Ref. 90102). |
Found in various reef habitats in shallow coastal lagoons to moderate depths on outer reefs; in sponges (Ref. 48635) and coralline areas (Ref. 2334). Benthic (Ref. 75154). |
