 Family:  Soleidae (Soles)
 Max. size:  30 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  demersal; depth range 8 - 28 m
 Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: Red Sea and Persian Gulf to the west and east coast of India and Sri Lanka.
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  Inhabits shallow sand and mud bottoms in coastal waters. Feeds mainly on benthic invertebrates, especially small crustaceans.
 IUCN Red List Status: Not Evaluated  (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
