 Family:  Syngnathidae (Pipefishes and seahorses), subfamily: Syngnathinae
 Max. size:  49 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  demersal; depth range 114 - 230 m
 Distribution:  Southwest Pacific: southern Australia and New Zealand (Ref. 5755).
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  Recorded from the continental shelf (Ref. 9563) from depths between 114 m (Ref. 58489) and 230 m (Ref. (9563). Ovoviviparous (Ref. 205). The male carries the eggs in a brood pouch which is found under the tail (Ref. 205).
 IUCN Red List Status: Data deficient  (Ref. 96402)
