 Family:  Sparidae (Porgies)
 Max. size:  30 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  demersal; depth range 5 - 185 m
 Distribution:  Western Atlantic: North Carolina to Georgia in the USA and the Gulf of Mexico (from northern Florida to Yucatan).
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  Found mainly on mud bottoms.
 IUCN Red List Status:   (Ref. 96402)
