 Family:  Cynoglossidae (Tonguefishes), subfamily: Symphurinae
 Max. size:  9 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  bathydemersal; depth range 550 - 800 m
 Distribution:  Southeast Atlantic: known only from off East London, South Africa.
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 93-100; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 88-95. Upper side brown with vague dark cross bars (Ref. 4418).
 Biology:
