 Family:  Tetraodontidae (Puffers), subfamily: Tetraodontinae
 Max. size:  20 cm SL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  demersal
 Distribution:  Northwest Pacific: Japan and the southern Korean Peninsula. Reported from Taiwan (Ref. 12711).
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 12-15; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 10-13. Body covered with prickles. Brown with many irregular pale spots dorsally, white ventrally (Ref. 559).
 Biology:  Euryhaline (Ref. 37812). Occurs near shore on rock bottoms (Ref. 11230).
 IUCN Red List Status:   (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  poisonous to eat
