 Family:  Alepocephalidae (Slickheads)
 Max. size:  26.7 cm SL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  bathypelagic; depth range 600 - 1500 m
 Distribution:  Eastern Atlantic: off Azores Island, and from Western Sahara south to Angola. Elsewhere, tropical western Atlantic and Indian Ocean off Saya-de-Malha Bank and Broken Ridge. Probably occurring in the Western Central Pacific (Ref. 38717).
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  Benthic to benthopelagic (Ref. 51024). Found on the continental slope (Ref. 75154).
 IUCN Red List Status:   (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
