Dorsal spines (total): 4-4; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-9; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 5-5. Distinguishable from other species of the genus by the combination of the following characters: color pattern consisting of a blackish longitudinal stripe along side of body; more lateral line scales (34-35) and predorsal scales (14); median lobe of lower lip with a truncate posterior margin, not extending to a line connecting inner corners of mouth; eye diameter smaller (13.1-13.8% of HL, vs. 14.6-31.2%) and visible in ventral view; interorbital width wider (43.8-45.7% of HL, vs. 27.8-40.0%); isthmus naked, scales embedded in skin; gill rakers 19-22 (Ref 13848). |
Found in streams with clear water and usually with slow current. |
