Dorsal spines (total): 2-2; Dorsal soft rays (total): 6-6; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 9-11; Vertebrae: 34-35. This species differs from Z. kafuensis, Z. kavangoensis, Z. monomotapa and Z. pallidus in having a premaxillary tooth patch with the buccal margin expanded laterally and from all other species in its more robust form and bold markings (Ref. 86935). Premaxillary teeth in 5-6 rows, the outer row with 6-7 and inner row with about 16 teeth on each side (Ref. 86935). |
Known from the edge of rapids and feeds on insect larvae (Ref. 86935). Seems to inhabit rocky rapids rather than sandy bottoms (Ref. 94654). |
