 Family:  Ariidae (Sea catfishes), subfamily: Ariinae
 Max. size:  34 cm SL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  benthopelagic
 Distribution:  Asia: Taiwan, Philippines, and questionably from northern Borneo.
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  Found in turbid inshore waters, estuaries, embayments, and brackish water lagoons (Ref. 38478). Feeds mainly from the bottom (Ref. 26909). An excellent food fish.
 IUCN Red List Status: Not Evaluated  (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  traumatogenic
 Country info:  Reported from Los BaƱos, Laguna; San Fabian, Pangasinan; Navotas, Malabon, and Puerto Galera, Mindoro (Ref. 280). Collected from Laguna de Bay in 1984 and considered an excellent food fish. It is frequently hauled with A. manillensis. It has also been reported from Laguna de Bay in a 2005 assessment (Ref. 80824). It was described from a 23.5 cm specimen taken from Paco market, Manila (Ref. 12739). Museum specimens collected from various localities, LRS-84135 (Ref. 13460). Also Ref. 38478.
