Described from the type specimens, 9.4 and 14 cm, collected from Lake Manguao, near Taytay in northern Palawan (1913). Known only to be abundant in 1913, biting hooks and nibbling at fingers held underwater (Ref. 2929). Specimens collected in the 1989 survey from the lake (46 individuals) and from Manguao stream (3), about 2 km NW of the lake were not spearated into the two species (bantolanensis and manguaoensis) (Ref. 13489). Study conducted in 2003 showed that P. manguaoensis occupies the littoral zone while P. bantolanensis occupies the open water zone (Ref. 50862). |
