 Family:  Ipnopidae (Deep-sea tripod fishes)
 Max. size:  26 cm SL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  bathydemersal; depth range 800 - 1500 m
 Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: off the east coast of Africa (22°-33°S) to the northeast Indian Ocean and southern Japan (Ref. 559).
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 13-13; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 11-11. Head bluish black below and laterally, light above; gill covers and thoracic region dark (Ref. 5320). Body whitish with 2 dark bands (Ref. 5320). Fins black except for caudal which is black basally, white distally (Ref. 5320).
 Biology:  Synchronously hermaphroditic.
 IUCN Red List Status: Not Evaluated  (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
 Country info:  Collected during the Hearst Expedition 2011 done off Batangas and Mindoro, off SW Luzon, beam trawl in 757-836 m (Ref. 95664).
