 Max. size:  29 cm SL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  reef-associated
 Distribution:  Northwestern Pacific: restricted to the subtropical and warm temperate, between Sagami Bay, Japan, and the northeastern tip of Taiwan.
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding (Ref. 205).
 IUCN Red List Status: Data deficient  (Ref. 96402) , IUCN Grouper and Wrasse Specialist Group
 Threat to humans:  harmless
 Country info:  Reported from Ref. 559; outside distributional range (Ref. 75973).
