 Distribution:  Indian Ocean: India and Pakistan. Possibly in Indonesia, Indochina, Australia, Philippines and northern China.

 Threat to humans:  Harmless
 Country info:  Nominally recorded in the Philippines (Ref. 13568). Probably a junior synonym of C. taurus, thus, regarded as a doubtful species for the present until validity is confirmed. Validity noted as questionable in Compagno's 1999 checklist (Ref. 35766).
