 Family:  Tripterygiidae (Triplefin blennies), subfamily: Tripterygiinae
 Max. size:  3.5 cm SL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  reef-associated; depth range 0 - 40 m
 Distribution:  Pacific Ocean: Christmas Island in the eastern Indian Ocean (Ref. 30874); Taiwan to southwestern and southeastern Australia and American Samoa.
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 18-20; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-10; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 19-21. Has a reddish head with rose blotches and an olive green body with irregular light streaks and blotches.
 Biology:  Eggs are hemispherical and covered with numerous sticky threads that anchor them in the algae on the nesting sites (Ref. 240). Larvae are planktonic which occur primarily in shallow, nearshore waters (Ref. 94114).

 Threat to humans:  harmless
