 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 12; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8. A broad dark, oblique band present on dorsal half of body directed anteroventrally from below posterior third of dorsal fin, dark band with pale marginal bands anteriorly and posteriorly. (Ref 9823)
 Biology:  Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding (Ref. 205).
