 Family:  Labridae (Wrasses), subfamily: Cheilininae
 Max. size:  13 cm SL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  reef-associated; depth range 6 - 40 m
 Distribution:  Western Pacific: southern Taiwan, Luzon (Philippines), and the Macclesfield Bank, South China Sea.
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 11-11; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-9; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 9-9
 Biology:  Usually occurs over rocky bottoms.
 IUCN Red List Status:   (Ref. 96402) , IUCN Grouper and Wrasse Specialist Group
 Threat to humans:  harmless
 Country info:  Known from Palawan (Ref. 90102).
