 Family:  Gobiidae (Gobies), subfamily: Gobiinae
 Max. size:  10 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  demersal; depth range 2 - 10 m
 Distribution:  Western Central Pacific: Philippines and Australia.
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 6-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-10; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 10-10. Characterized by greyish body color; sides with 8-10 brown bars, two bars below anterior and posterior parts of second dorsal fin darker than other; yellowish narrow interspace between dark bars; head with bluish or whitish spots; margin of first dorsal fin between first and third spines with blackish spot; united pelvic fins, presence of frenum; longitudinal scale series 85; head without scales; greatest depth of body 5.1-5.4 in SL; lanceolate caudal fin, longer than head (Ref. 90102).
 Biology:  Inhabits silty inshore reefs in 2-10 m (Ref 90102).
 IUCN Red List Status: Not Evaluated  (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
 Country info:  Type locality: Cebu Island, BSMP 12025 (holotype of Cryptocentrus cebuanus, but destroyed in WW II) (Ref. 75154).
