 Family:  Cynoglossidae (Tonguefishes), subfamily: Cynoglossinae
 Max. size:  27.5 cm SL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  bathydemersal; depth range 176 - 421 m
 Distribution:  Western Pacific: Philippines, through Celebes, to the Timor Sea. Also reported from Taiwan (Ref. 5193).
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 110; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 92-105; Vertebrae: 57-61. Scales between dorsolateral and midlateral lines 19 to 22 (Ref 9895).
 Biology:

 Threat to humans:  harmless
 Country info:  Museum: Off southern Luzon, China Sea (Verde I. Passage, off Escarceo Light, Mindoro), in 173 fathoms (317 m), 'Albatross' collection, Stn. D. 5291, USNM 93086 (Holotype, 15.5 cm) (Ref. 311). USNM 113189 - 113194, 137941-8, 137950 (Ref. 11790). Also Ref. 280, 5297, 9494.
