 Family:  Eleotridae (Sleepers), subfamily: Eleotrinae
 Max. size:  25 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  demersal, amphidromous
 Distribution:  Africa: Mozambique to the Umtata River (Transkei, South Africa); also islands in the western Indian Ocean.
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 7-9; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 8-8. Head and body dark brown to black, with longitudinal lines and irregular mottlings on body; fins dark (Ref. 5493).
 Biology:
