 Family:  Bythitidae (Viviparous brotulas), subfamily: Bythitinae
 Max. size:  4.2 cm SL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  reef-associated; depth range 30 - 38 m,
 Distribution:  Indo-Pacific Ocean: Philippines south to Indonesia including Papua New Guinea; Christmas Islands, Samoa and Vanuatu.
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 81-86; Anal soft rays: 71-76; Vertebrae: 53-56. Description: Characterized by pinkish red color to brownish; caudal rays 5-6; origin of dorsal fin over rear half of pectoral fin; eye diameter 11.9-15.6 % head length; least interorbital width 7.3-9.3 % head length; predorsal length 40.4-41.9% SL; completely scaled head; supraorbital pores 6-7 (Ref. 90102).
 Biology:  Rare species, found near reef-sand interface (Ref. 34024). A 3.8 cm SL female specimen found to be gravid (Ref. 34024). Cryptic and solitary (Ref 90102).
 IUCN Red List Status: Not Evaluated  (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
