 Family:  Scyliorhinidae (Cat sharks)
 Max. size:  40 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  bathydemersal
 Distribution:  Western Pacific: off Japan and the East China Sea; possibly Viet Nam (Ref. 11146). Recorded in the Philippines during the MUSORSTOM November 1980 cruise.
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 0-0; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 0-0. Obscure saddle markings on body and precaudal tail, and with dark markings on the terminal and hypural caudal-fin lobes (Ref. 11146).
 Biology:  A little-known, but very common shark, found in deep water near the bottom (Ref. 11146). Maximum length of at least 40 cm TL, probably reaching 50 cm (Ref. 11146).
 IUCN Red List Status:   (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
 Country info:  Recorded in the Philippines during the MUSORSTOM November 1980 cruise (Ref. 5281). Occurrence needs further validation according to Ref. 110893.
