 Family:  Muraenidae (Moray eels), subfamily: Muraeninae
 Max. size:  30 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  demersal; depth range 0 - 12 m
 Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: Red Sea, Ryukyu Islands, Taiwan, and the Philippines (Ref 000559). South China Sea to Papua New Guinea (Ref 90102)
 Diagnosis:  Vertebrae: 109-119. Body light brown, lighter at snout and no mark below the eye. Teeth in the middle of premaxilla arranged in almost 1 row (Ref. 41299). Description: Characterized by body depth at gill opening 18.5-22.5 in TL; origin of dorsal fin slightly anterior to gill opening; anus anterior to middle of body; preanal length 2.1-2.2 in TL; side of upper jaw with two rows of teeth, teeth in inner row are much longer, extending to rear jaw; two stout intermaxillary teeth; inner row teeth of lower jaw longer and confined to anterior part of jaw; low, nodular and uniserial vomerine teeth (Ref. 90102).
 Biology:  Found in coral reefs and rocky shores in 0-12 m (Ref 90102).
 IUCN Red List Status: Not Evaluated  (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
 Country info:  Probable type locality, Puerto Galera, Mindoro, holotype extant. Second Philippine specimen collected from a tidepool at Culion, CAS-SU 26842. Also Ref. 559, 10713, 90102.
