 Family:  Congridae (Conger and garden eels), subfamily: Heterocongrinae
 Max. size:  53.7 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  demersal; depth range 1 - 35 m, non-migratory
 Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: Ambon, Indonesia and Negros, Philippines. Also from Andaman Islands (Ref. 90102).
 Diagnosis:  Vertebrae: 172-177. Grey to brown and a pale blotch over gills; diameter to about 24 mm (Ref. 48635). Description: Characterized by presence of white margin on dorsal fin; origin of dorsal fin above posterior edge of adpressed pectoral fin; predorsal length 5.9-7.0% of TL; preanal length 32.3-36.3% of TL; depth of body at gill opening 2.2-2.4% of TL (Ref. 90102).
 Biology:  Occurs on silty sand bottom (Ref. 33408) or muddy habitats (Ref. 48635). Solitary or in colonies (Ref 90102).
 IUCN Red List Status: Not Evaluated  (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
 Country info:  Type locality (Ref. 48635). Museum: Negros, off Dumaguete City pier, BPBM 21017 (holotype of H. perissodon, 53.7 cm TL) (Ref. 33408); ANSP 136746 (paratype). Also in Luzon (Ref. 90102).
